Matrix Light 2 Platform (Latest Version)
The security system that turns 'Matrix Light 2' into the first carrycot in the world with Isofix.
Now Despatching New Improved Version with longer adjustable leg.
The Matrix Platform from Jané is an accessory that has been specially designed to make it easier to install the Jane Matrix Light 2 infant car seat in the car. The base is fastened to the vehicle using the Isofix system, meaning it is not necessary to fit the vehicle seat belts. For greater safety, it is fitted with a strong, hard wearing anti-rotation leg with adjustable depth and height to fit most cars.
One of the main features of the Jané Matrix Platform is that it allows your baby to travel lying down sideways or sitting up facing backwards, thanks to its innovative swivel system. It is quick, easy and safe to install. It is also fitted with indicators to guarantee that the base is correctly fastened to the vehicle: two green signals in the display window indicate that it is correctly installed. The new base has been specially designed to be left permanently in the car, thereby avoiding the constant hassle of installing and removing it.

The base can be turned to 3 different positions:
Two sideways positions (group 0), that make it easier to get the baby in and out of the infant car seat, in which the baby travels lying down and one position in which the baby travels sitting up facing backwards (group 0 ).
For greater protection, when the baby is travelling in one of the lying down positions, the design of the base means that the baby’s head is never near the sides of the vehicle, which is fundamental for protecting the most vulnerable part of the baby in the event of a side impact accident.

This platform is brilliant its easy to fit and its easy to use no need to keep strapping the car seat in and using the car seat belt, and i love the way you can lay the baby down while you drive and the fact you can turn it to just get the baby out while its facing you. Would definitely recommend this item to anyone with a jane matrix light 2. i found strapping it into the car really hard as the seat belt only just fit but as the platform uses isofix points it only takes seconds to put into the car :)
This was the only internet company that had this in stock, super fast delivery and the CHEAPEST on the net.(i did press the like button on facebook to get my discount).
hi,
My daughter and son in law are expecting twins,im interested in buying them the jane twone & 2 matrix light travel system pram. Will i need 2 of these and will they both fit in the back of a car.
Thany you for your help
Samuel Johnston Replies:
Hi Lorraine,
Thanks for getting in touch, hopefully I can help!
The Twone sytems are really popular at the moment (you can never really go wrong with a Jane) because they are so versatile. The Matrix Light II really is a exceptional seat and used with the Platform its really handy too.
The Matrix Light II can be fitted in the car either lying flat or upright, using the cars own seat belts OR using the Platforms - the platforms just make it incredibly quick and easy to fit and change between the two.
The Matrix takes up 1 space when used upright rear facing, and takes up two spaces lying down flat (the same whether the seat is fitted by the cars belts or on the platform). So either way (unless you have a 7 seater) you will be able to fit both car seats at the same time certainly but will only be able to have one seat lying flat at a time. In cases like this its best to use one seat lying flat and one upright, then after around 2 hours (for a really long journey) swap, so that the baby who was sitting upright can now lie flat. Using the Matrix Platforms this is really, really fast and easy, that's the beauty of these platforms - you wont need to take the harnesses off, waken the children or remove the Matrix seats themselves.
I hope that helps Lorraine, but if your still unsure please do drop us a quick e-mail at customer-services@samueljohnston.co.uk

Hi there, does this base need tO be professionally fitted? Or will we be able to fit it ourselves?
Samuel Johnston Replies:
Good Morning Hazel,
Thanks for getting in touch, hopefully I can help!
No, you can certainly fit this yourself, there's absolutely no reason why you can't.
Its designed to be fitted at home with no prior experience and this particular model actually has a little QR code on the front - so if you scan this with your smart phone it will actually play a little installation video so you can see how this fits in your car, but its really not difficult at all. The two Isofix bayonettes will snap into place when they find the right point on your car and the little indicators will change from red to green on the legs.
The new 2014 models that we have in stock (this version) also have an indicator on the drop down support leg too, so you can be assured peace of mind. There are a number of other upgrades on this model over last years design also.
But you should be able to fit this yourself with no problems at all!
I hope that's been some help!
Kind regards,
Samuel Johnston ltd.

Hi, is the new 2014 version of the platform base compatible with the 2013 matrix light 2? Thanks
Samuel Johnston Replies:
Yes, any 'Matrix Light 2' is compatible with the Matrix Isofix Platform.
Matrix light (the original Light version) and older Matrix Cup and Matrix Pro's are not compatible with a base.
Pei-Theng United Kingdomasks
Will this fit in a Mini Cooper 3 door hatch 57 plate? Will it be possible for it to be in a lie flat position? Thanks
Samuel Johnston Replies:
Hi Pei-Theng, I have checked Jané's compatibility list and it confirms it can be installed with either seat belts and with the Isofix Matrix Platform, in both positions (sit-up and lie-flat).
For your information, the Matrix Light 2 car seat is classified as UNIVERSAL, and the ISOFIX PLATFORM is classified as SEM-UNIVERSAL.
Hope this helps.

Please can you tell me if the matrix light 2 platform is suitable for a 2006 Mercedes R320 L Sport? I've already bought the platform but the car list on the box doesn't list the Mercedes R Class as compatible. Is this correct? The car has two separate seats in the back and a gap in the middle of them.
Many thanks
Samuel Johnston Replies:
Hi Paula,
The list provided is only showing what the Manufacturer has tested and fitted the car seat physically in, and obviously up to that date of manufacture. Its is constantly being updated. So if it is not on the list, it doesn't mean that it will not fit, just that they may still have to try that model and year of car yet.
I have looked into it, and the only things to check your car for it that it does not have an under-floor storage compartment that the Matrix Platform leg would rest on. The Platforms support leg has to rest on the solid car floor.
And also check that there is no obstructions/dangers in the middle of the two centre seats if your rotate your matrix to the flat position which would hangover the centre gap.
As you have already purchased the base, try installing it as per the instructions. If you have not come across any issues during the installation, then its fine. Its just a case that it may have not been officially checked by their installation team and added to their list yet.
Hope this helps.SJ

I have a Jane Matrix Light base which we used with the Jane Matrix 2. My daughter is ready to move up to a stage 1 car seat (She is 15 months). Can this base be used with any stage 1 car seat?
Many Thanks
Katrina
Samuel Johnston Replies:
Hi Katrina, The matrix platform only works with the Matrix Light 2 infant car seats. Having a base for a car seat is only useful with the infant age range of car seats. The next stage car seats stay in the car because your child and the car seat start to become too heavy to take in at out of the car and you only ever did this to put an infanct car seat onto a pram chassis to make it a travel system. Once your child is passed this newborn age range of car seats, they start to use the pushchair and the car seats stay in the car. Hope this answers your question.. Regards SJ

Hello,
I was wondering if you could tell me if a Honda Civic is listed as compatible with this isofix base? It has isofix anchor points and no underfloor storage, but I was just hoping to find out if it has been successfully tested in this car? Thank you.
Samuel Johnston Replies:
Hi Siobhan, yes the Matrix Platform has been tested in your car and I can confirm the two positions it can be used in is your two outer rear seats. I confirmed this with the list we have. Hope this helps. Regard SJ

Hi, I have read a review on line which says 'the only thing I will say lets it down is when you want to adjust from lay down position to sit up, you have to pull 2 grey levers out and you need both hands to do this, so when you have both hands on the levers you cant actually swing the car seat to upright position, so another pair of hands is needed.' Does this mean that there is no way of using the base when on your own or is there a way around this?
Samuel Johnston Replies:
Good afternoon Joanne,
Thanks for getting in touch, Hopefuly I can help.
Im actually really glad you e-mailed in about this, as the person posting the original review is clearly doing it wrong. The change between the lie-flat and upright positions of the Matrix Light II on the Platform ONLY requires you to pull EITHER of the grey levers and then turn the seat round with your other (free) hand.
Pulling both the grey release levers wont actuall do anything different to pulling just one of them.
This platform is actually incredibly easy to use, and given that it only requries one lever to activate the rotate (and you do only need to pull this one lever out initally to allow the rotation to start, then you can let go again) you can get both hands at the car seat to help set your baby in.
I hope that helps Joanne,
Kind Regards,
Samuel Johnston

Hi, Is there a vehicle compatibility list for this base? or do you have any examples of vehicles it definitely won't fit?
Thanks,
Samuel Johnston Replies:
Good afternoon James,
Thanks for getting in touch, hopefully I can help.
There is a basic list of fittings for the Matrix Light Platform, but to be completely honest James, we have only ever found one car which it wont fit into and there is a very simple way to check if your own exact vehicle model will be suitable.
The only thing which would prevent the Matrix Platform from fitting safely would be if your car has a storage compartment under the floor in the footwell where the supporting leg from the base will be resting. The foot needs to rest on a solid body panel, if your car has a storage bin under the floor then under accident loads the foot will punch through into this - allowing the car seat to rotate and not be at the optimum angle to offer protection. This is actually the same thing you need to check for ANY car set base that uses a supporting leg, not specific to the Jane platform.
If your car does have such a storage compartment you will need to either lift the lid and allow the foot to rest on the bottom of the compartment or (at a push, and really its a last resort) get a secure block (of wood for example) to fill this compartment so that it is effectively made solid.
That is the only thing would could mean your car isn't suitable. Sports seats etc wont affect this as the ISOfix brackets are universal and provided the foot is resting solidly on the floor you will be fine.
I hope that helps James.
Kind Regards,

Will this isofix work with Jane matrix cup as well as the light? As I have the older vision and didn't wanted to mess around ordering it if wouldn't work.
Samuel Johnston Replies:
Good afternoon
Thanks for getting in touch with us, I have had a look into your enquiry but unfortunately the Jane matrix IsoFix base is not backwards compatible, the base will only fit the Matrix 2 Light model and not its predecessor's.
the Jane Matrix Light 2 has a few structural housing's added onto the back for the support in the base, while the earlier models do not have these.
Kind regards
