Can you please tell inside size (mattress length and width in cm) of Jane Matrix Light 2 car seat/carrycot?
Samuel Johnston Replies:
Hi Anda,
Thanks for getting in touch, the official Jane safety mattress for this model of Matrix Light II is actually due into stock for the first time in a couple of days.
You can see this here:
http://www.samueljohnston.com/en/Jane-Safety-Mattress-for-Matrix-Light-2/m-2408.aspx
The new Matrix Light II models needed a specially shaped mattress to fit perfectly inside, the old style rectangular mattress with the round corners wont fit this, so giving you length and breadth dimensions wont help I'm afraid. If you got a mattress made it would bunch up at the sides which wouldn't be comfortable for your baby. However if you are just checking on the size of the interior on this seat then the dimensions are 70cm long (inside) by 30cm wide at widest point. But the Matrix is shaped and contoured, so these dimensions will change quite a bit depending on where you measure it.
Hope that helps!

Does this car seat go in the rear facing position with the hood on? also does it go in the forward facing position with hood on?
Samuel Johnston Replies:
Hi Becky,
Thanks for getting in touch, Hopefully I can help!
The Matrix Light II car seat never goes in a forward facing position, this is a group 0+ car seat and will always be rearward facing - except of course when used in the lie flat position (which is unique to this car seat).
When used upright rearward facing you will need to pop the hood off the quickly and just tuck this under the foot end of the car seat, as the carry handle acts as an anti-rotation bar in this position. You don't need to fully remove the hood, just pop it off the back of the seat an tuck it under the foot end.
When used in the lie-flat position, the handle bar would be fully upright, again as an anti-rotational bar, but in this position there is absolutely no reason why the car seat cant have the hood fitted.
This would be the same whether you are using the Isofix platform or just fitting the matrix with the cars own belts.
I hope that's been of some help!
Kind regards,
Samuel Johnston Ltd.

Hi. When on the matrix isofix platform in the car, I am not able to get the matrix light 2 into a fully lie-flat position since I have another child car seat which is in the way.
However, I can get the matrix almost fully reclined without obstruction. Is there any reason I cannot use the matrix light in this almost-lie-flat mode? It has been said that only fully upright or fully flat are options, but I cannot see how it can be any less safe. Can you help?
Thanks.
Samuel Johnston Replies:
Hi Andrew,
Thanks for getting in touch, hopefully I can help!
I'm glad you asked Andrew, we would definitely NOT recommend using the Matrix Light Platform unless you can get it to lock into the required positions either fully upright or fully reclined. Jane make arguably the safest range of car seats and bases anywhere in the world and we are very strong advocates of them, recommending them without hesitation - but you would definitely need to ensure that the seat is fully reclined when using to ensure that it performs as it needs to should you need to rely on it.
To be honest this is the first time we have ever hear of a fitting issue with the Matrix Plaftorm, and we have sold hundreds of units of these over the last two years. It was designed to fit into a "standard" sized vehicle taking up only one seat when rear facing and only two seats when lying flat. We have never heard of the matrix lying flat encroaching into the third rear seat before.
I'm sorry but we would definitely recommend that the manufacturers instructions are adhered to when it comes to an aspect of in-car safety.
If you ordered this seat from ourselves please drop us a quick e-mail to customer-services@samueljohnston.co.uk quoting your order number.
Kind regards,
Samuel Johnston Ltd.

Hi. What is in the package for this car seat? Is a rain cover or mosquito net included?
Samuel Johnston Replies:
Good morning Natalya,
Thanks for getting in touch! Hopefully I can help.
The Jane Matrix Light II comes on its own, it just includes the fabric hood, padded liner and removable fabric apron as shown on the images and thumbnails on the page.
There are optional accessories such as the mosquito net and PVC raincover available separately if you need these, and we always keep both in stock at all times.
You can see these here:

Hi,
Can the Matrix Light 2 be used for overnight sleeping every night (like a Moses basket) or is it only for occasional overnight use?
Thanks.
Samuel Johnston Replies:
Good Morning Andrew,
Thanks for getting in touch, hopefully I can help!
Yes, absolutely, but you would need to use the little safety mattress for full overnight sleeping. If you haven't already got one of those, we have them in stock here: http://www.samueljohnston.com/en/Jane-Safety-Mattress-for-Matrix-Light-2/m-2408.aspx
The Matrix Light II is ideal for overnight sleeping as often as required as it meets all the legal requirements to be classed as an actual carrycot too, aswell as being the only upright and lie-flat car seat on the market. But you do need to use the mattress if baby is sleeping for long periods in it. For short naps (or car journeys lying flat) this isn't required.
I hope that's been some help!
Kind Regards,
Samuel Johnston ltd.

Hi,
What is the upper age / weight limit for the child to travel in the carry cot position? My daughter is only 4 months but takes up the length of it already!
Many thanks
Samuel Johnston Replies:
The Matrix is a Group 0 and Group 0+ car seat.
When in the lie-flat Carrycot position it is classified as a GROUP 0 car seat, and this is from birth to 10kg, which is approx. birth to 9 months.
When in the sitting-up position it is classified as a GROUP 0+ car seat (GROUP ZERO PLUS), and this if from birth to 13kg, which is approx. birth to 18 months.
To give your baby more room and especially after 4 months, the sitting-up position could be used more. This will also give your baby more head room.
Hope this helps. Regards SJ
BeverleyUnited Kingdomasks
Hi there
Do I have to remove the shoulder straps from the carrycot in the lie-flat position BEFORE I place the mattress on top for use as a carry cot? Also - do you stock mattress covers?
Many Thanks
Beverley
Samuel Johnston Replies:
Hi Beverley,
No you don't need to remove the shoulder straps from the Matrix when using the Official Matrix Mattress. It has been designed so that you only need to remove the Matrix seat liner cushion, open the harness and place them towards the corners of the bedding area. The Matrix mattress is then placed on top of the harness.
The Matrix Mattress is thick enough so baby wont feel the buckle.
This allows you to quickly start using it again as a car seat when required because the harness is just unbuckled and under the removable mattress.
The Matrix mattress has a quilted removable and breathable cover that is machine washable. Although you can always buy additional Moses or Pram sized mattress glove sheets / covers if required. Just check out our "Sheets and Mattress Covers" under the Bedding section on our website.
Hope this information helps.
regards
Steve

Is Jane Matrix Light 2 Car seat./ Carrycot compatible with Icandy peach chassis? If so, what adaptors do I need? Thank you for your answer in advance!
Samuel Johnston Replies:
Hi Karolina,
Sorry, but the jane Matrix is not compatible with iCandy. It is only compatible with all Jane pushchairs (excluding the Rocket 2) and is also compatible with the bugaboo chameleon using adaptors.
The most popular jane travel systems that include the Matrix are: Muum, Kawai, Crosswalk R, Trider, and new this year the Crosslight.
Hope this helps.

How long is the matrix light 2 when it is in the lay flat configuration? We have another child in a car seat so space in the rear seat is limited.
Samuel Johnston Replies:
Hi Iain,
Thanks for getting in touch, hopefully we can help.
The Matrix Light II seat when laying completely flat we haev just measured at 84cm from end to end.
This is the longest measurement as its actually taking into account the two seat belt tension clips (which you wouldnt need if your using this with the ISOfix platform, but you cannot remove them from the body of the Matrix as they are structural parts) which actually stick out about 2-3 cm on each end past the actual "shell" of the Matrix.
So if you find that 84cm will fit then you should have no problems as the actual shell itself probably only measures about 80cm from end to end.
I hope thats been some help Iain, and just for your reference, we have the Isofix Matrix Platforms and all 10 of the Matrix Light II colours in stock ready for immediate dispatch.
Kind Regards,
Samuel Johnston Ltd.
CordeliaUnited Kingdomasks
Hi! Does the matrix light attach to the frame in its upright position, i.e. car seat mode?
Samuel Johnston Replies:
Hi Cordelia,
Thanks for getting in touch, hopefully I can help!
All versions of the Matrix car seat, including the newest Matrix Light II will fit onto the pushchair at any of its recline angles. You can use the Matrix on the pushchair frame either lying flat, slightly inclined or upright as you wish.
Obviously upright is only recommended for around 1-2 hours (as is any upright car seat) and then if possible you should recline the seat flat.
This ability to lie flat is what sets the Matrix apart from all other car seats on the market.
If your using the Matrix in the car (either belted, or using the ISOFix Platform) then you should only use it either completely upright, or completely flat.
I hope that helps!
Kind Regards,
Samuel Johnston ltd.
