It's a good playmat as described. You can put it in the washing machine but you need a good size drum to fit it, it's doesn't fit in easy because of the extra padding but wipes clean very easily. Extra padding is good for a bit of extra protection from falls. My little one also enjoyed the colours and animal pictures and loves laughing at herself in the mirror on the mat.
